Dr. Yvonne Kamau, MD MBA

Dr. Kamau is the founder of Family Physicians for Global Health Equity, as part of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Fellowship Program. She is a 3rd-year resident at Ascension St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency Program and an incoming fellow in the Contra Costa/UCSF Global Health Fellowship.

Dr. Julie Chege, MBBS

Dr. Julie Chege is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery and serves as a US-Kenya Liaison on the team. She is passionate about global and mental health programs in youth and adolescents in Africa.

Dr. Hillary Mabeya MBChB, MMED in OB/GYN

Dr. Hillary Mabeya is an Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, Expert Fistula Surgeon, and Founder and Director of Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. Since becoming the first specialized fistula surgeon in the region in 2003, he has performed thousands of surgeries that have transformed the lives of women suffering from obstetric fistula. He is also a cervical cancer prevention and HPV vaccine advocate.

  • Kehinde Temitayo Eniola, MD

    Dr. Eniola is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and serves as the Medical Director at Cone Health Family Medicine Center. Her areas of interest include women’s health, prenatal care, and dermatologic procedures. She serves as mentor and advisor to Dr. Kamau as part of the AAFP Foundation’s Family Medicine Leads Emerging Leaders Fellowship.

  • Dr. Sarah Finocchario Kessler, Ph.D., MPH

    Dr. Kessler is an associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in the Family Medicine & Community Health Department. Her research combines interests in reproductive health and HIV to improve safer childbearing for people living with HIV. Dr. Kessler's active studies focus on developing, evaluating, and adapting mHealth interventions like the HIV Infant Tracking System (HITSystem) to improve early infant diagnosis (EID) of HIV, and prevent perinatal HIV transmission among pregnant women in Kenya.

  • Dr. Natabhona Mabachi, PhD., MPH

    Dr. Mabachi is an expert in community-based participatory research (CBPR), qualitative research methods, evaluation, and health communications. She is the Director of Evaluation at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Research Network (NRN). Dr. Mabachi pioneered an eHealth tool—the Cancer Tracking System (CATSystem), to support CC screening, treatment, and on-site and external referrals for reproductive-age women in Kenya.

  • Dr. Sonya Dominguez, MD

    Dr. Dominguez serves as the Associate Program Director for St. Vincent’s Residency Program, Medical Director for St. Vincent's Employee Health, and President of the Medical Staff. She is passionate about Community Service, Health Equity and Leadership Development.

  • Dr. Danielle Marie Carter, MD, FAAFP

    Dr. Carter practices full-spectrum Family Medicine, with surgical obstetrics at St. Vincent’s. She is on the Board of Directors at Florida Academy of Family Physicians (FAFP) and state delegate to the National Conference of Constituency Leaders and the Congress of Delegates.

  • May Maloba, Ph.D. Fellow, MNCH, RN, CRC, Country Director, GHI Kenya

    Chief Executive Director at Global Health Innovations and an advocate for cervical cancer screening and treatment. She has educated health professionals nationally on how to increase the number of cervical cancer screenings countrywide leading to many women getting tested.

  • Dr. Felix Acholonu, OB, GYN

    Dr. Acholonu has been teaching residents since completing his OB-GYN training in New York City in 1985. He served as chief of OBGYN at St Vincent's Medical Center for 6 years and is currently a Division Head for North Florida OBGYN / Women's Care Florida. He has received many awards for community activities and has served on many medical missions to Africa and Jamaica.
